Meeting at the Edge – Conference 2010
Meeting at the Edge – Conference 2010
Categories: Conference, NSW — Socio Editor @ 5:43 am
The ANZPA Community in Sydney is gearing up to welcome you to the 2010 ANZPA Conference next January. As part of warming up to the conference here is an update on what we have been doing.
Developing The Program
Together with our entire ANZPA community, we are creating a program where we can meet each other at the edge in a number of ways:
at the edge of the method – new frontiers:
at the edge of our practice:
at our personal edges: and
across the edge between different cultures.
We are still accepting abstracts for presentations and workshops until 31 August, so there’s time to get yours to us (even if it’s only a tiny seedling of an idea at the moment). The ANZPA website has the links to do this.
We are excited about the workshops offered by Yaacov Naor, Chris Hosking, Jenny Hutt and Don Reekie.
In the meantime you can download “Theatre of the Holocaust”, an article by Yaacov Naor about his work.
Registration
Registration will be opening in a few weeks (September) for the main Conference and for the pre and post workshops.
The Venue
We know you will love Sancta Sophia College at the University of Sydney. The address is 8 Missenden Road Camperdown NSW 2050. Here are more photos and details.
More comprehensive information about accommodation will be available online at registration time.
Internet
There will be free internet access from their computer room. Individual connection from your room is available for a fee of $10 per day.
Travel from the Airport
Airport Shuttle
The Kingsford Smith Transport company options include pre booked, day of travel and groups of 5 discount. Return fares per person pre-booked are $20.70. Book online or phone +612 9666 9988, fax +612 9666 7099. This is the shuttle service referred to on the college’s website.
Other companies include Aerobus phone 1300 888 445 (within Australia).
Taxis
The fare from the airport is about $25 depending on the time of day. Sharing the 10 kilometre trip would be the most convenient and cheap way.
Train
Airport Link from international or domestic terminals to Central Station runs every 15 minutes and takes 10 minutes. Cost is $11 one way (return fare only available for same day travel). From Central Station take a taxi or bus ($2.80) to Missenden Rd.
There is no bus service from the airport direct to the city.
Near Sancta Sophia College
The college is about 3 kms from the centre of the CBD. The suburbs of Glebe, Newtown, Camperdown are easy walking distance for restaurants, cafes, banks, chemists and bookshops.
Weather
In January the average maximum temperature is 27C, average overnight minimum is 19C. Prepare for hot weather, high UV and rain. For more detail go to ww.bom.gov.au.
We look forward to seeing you there
